Shenandoah Mountain 100 - 100 mile backcountry mountain bike race in Virginia's George Washington National Forest. The course will consist of singletrack, double track, and fire roads with a bit of pavement. Check out this COURSE MAP

    The Shenandoah Mountain 100 is the best valued event on NUE circuit. Your entry fee includes pre and post race meal's with beverages, 3 nights camping, fully stocked aid stations 20 miles apart along the course. Full use of campground facilities: bathrooms, showers, swimming hole. Cash to Top 5 Men and Women Overall. Class categories: Men and Women Open, Singlespeed, Masters(50+), Tandem, and Clydesdale. All competitors will receive a technical t-shirt and participant pint glass.

    Tent/Car camping at Stokesville Campground is included with entry for event weekend only. Friday to Monday. Limited Premium RV spots are available by advance reservation on this site for an additional $150. Stokesville Campground is the central location for Registration, Start/Finish, meals and awards. 

    We have a drop system organized where you can arrange to have supplies (lights, gear, food, etc.) left at the aid stations. You are allowed two - 1 gallon ziplocks bags to be used as drop bags that we will provide. That includes your lights!!!! If the ziplock cannot seal closed we will not send it onto the aid stations. No camelbak drops allowed unless it fits in one closed gallon ziplock bag.  They must be labeled with race number and are to be dropped off Saturday evening from 4 to 10:00 PM. They cannot be picked up again until Sunday evening. If you are unable to pick up your supplies we can mail them back to you for $25. We are not responsible for any lost, stolen or missing drop bags.

    There is 1 mini water station and 5 full service aid stations complete with food, beverages, and support. The aid stations high spirits will keep you rolling and having fun all day. When stopping at a station please do not drop your bike in the road, either keep it between your legs or walk it to the side of the road and place it clear from harms way.

    We will have cut-offs at Aid Station 4, 5, and 6 - they will be announced at the riders meeting as they will be partially based on forecasted weather. 

    If you have friends or family that aren't racing in the SM100 please have them sign up to volunteer. We have some great volunteer spots that could use their help. We do request if non racers are coming to this event they volunteer. Volunteers are a great aspect to this event as well as all of our other events, so please help out.

Aid Station Info:

Station #1 : approx. 1-2 hours

Water or sports drink only- no drop bags or food! Station 1 is where you come off Narrowback Mountain. You have the climb up Lynn, the downhill on Wolf and just shy of 10 miles of fast rolling dirt and paved fireroad before station #2. Start the race with some food and eat it before station #2!

Station #2: 31 miles in - approx. 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 hours (this is also station #6 you will pass it again during your last 1-2 hours of the event)

Drops allowed. Station will be stocked with food and beverages to be announced at a later time.

Station #3: 45 miles in - approx. 3 1/2 to 5 hours -- Hammer Gel Station

Drops are allowed. Anything but specific food is discouraged. Station will be stocked with food and beverages to be announced at a later time.

Station #4: 57 miles in - approx. 4 1/2 to 6 1/2 hours – Cold Coke

Drops are allowed .Anything but specific food is discouraged. Station will be stocked with food and beverages to be announced at a later time.

Station #5: 75 miles in - approx. 5 1/2 to 10 hours -- Hammer Gel Station, Pizza and Cold Coke

Drops are encouraged! This is the drop dead point. No one is permitted to continue past this section without lights and or approval from the Chief past 4:20 PM. We reserve the right to forcibly pull you from the course despite your crying and whining and cuff you to a tree for any reason- ain't authority great! Warm clothes are suggested if you think you will be out after dark. There will be a cut off even if you have lights. This will be announced at the start.

Station #6: 88 miles in - approx. 7 to 14 hours (station #2 from earlier in the day)

Additional lights may be needed at this point. If you have been riding from #5 in the dark it will take you at least 2 hours to finish the race in the dark. The leaders can do the last section in about 1 hour during daylight.

Directions for Event:

From the North on I-81 take exit 240. Follow Rt. 257 to Bridgewater. Take a left on Rt. 42 south, cross the bridge leaving Bridgewater and turn right onto Rt. 727. Follow to T and turn left staying on 727. Follow to stop sign, turn left onto Rt. 730, and follow to Stokesville. At next stop sign turn left on Rt. 730 again and cross over the Iron Bridge. The Stokesville Campground is immediately on your right.

From the South on I - 81 take exit 220 for Staunton VA 262. Follow Rt. 262 (Staunton Bypass) West around Staunton for 6.8 miles to Rt. 250. Left/West on Rt. 250 for 5.6 miles to Rt. 42 in Churchville. Right/North on Rt. 42 for 5.3 miles to Rt. 760. Left/West on Rt. 760 Bunker Hill Rd for 3.5 miles to Rt. 747. Left/West on 747 Free Mason Run for 1.1 miles where it becomes Rt. 730. Continue past the Stokesville Lodge and Campground exit around the bend to the left slowing at the Red Caboose and turn left just in front of the Iron Bridge at the yellow Stokesville Depot house and proceed up the hill into the Campground.

From West on the PA Turnpike - Take 70 east in Breezewood towards Washington D.C. - Take exit 1B (Rt. 522 South-Hancock exit). Go over the Potomac River through Beckeley Springs and into VA towards Winchester for a total of 40 miles before taking a right on 37 South just before Winchester (the 2nd stop light you come to in VA - a small sign for 81 South is at the turn). Follow 37 South to 81 South. Harrisonburg is about 65 miles South of Winchester.
