To Benefit Trails in Lake Fairfax Park

Race #9 of the 2017 BikeReg Super Series - SERIES FINAL

Sunday, December 3, 2017, Lake Fairfax Park, Reston, VA

General Info

The 2017 Capital ‘Cross Classic is a USAC cyclocross event. All USAC rules and penalties apply. As the rider, you are responsible for knowing the rules for the race in which you are racing.

Beneficiary: Proceeds will benefit the Lake Fairfax Sustainable Natural Trail System program, which aims to build new sustainable trails and restore existing trails in Lake Fairfax Park.

Venue and amenities: The Capital Cross Classic course is located on the grounds of Lake Fairfax Park in Reston, Va. The event will include a bike expo featuring representatives from the bike industry and other bike-related groups. Heated restrooms, a food vendor and free drinking water will be available onsite throughout the day. Alcohol is prohibited in the park. There is a children’s playground located near the racecourse. As the event is a benefit for the park’s trails, attendees are encouraged to explore the miles of trails available in the park during their visit.

Parking: Parking is available in lots located off Lake Fairfax Drive in the park. Parking is free, IF course conditions are dry. However, the promoter reserves the right to institute a mandatory $2/vehicle parking fee if the course is soft or muddy and could suffer significant damage during the event. Capital ‘Cross Classic is a benefit for trail building and maintenance and it is the goal of the promoters to leave no trace of our use of the park. All damage to the park [turf, etc] will be paid for with proceeds from the race. If a parking fee is instituted, those funds will only be used to repair the course and/or benefit trails. Announcements regarding a parking fee will be made on the BikeReg.com registration page prior to the race. All racers and other attendees are encouraged to bring $2/vehicle to the race, just in case.

Team Parking: Team parking is available in close proximity to the racecourse. Please contact the promoter no later than one week in advance for team parking reservations. Team parking spots will be offered on a first-come-first-served basis.

Warm-ups: For the safety and courtesy of all racers, warming up on the course during races is prohibited. Violators will be disqualified. The course will be open for warm-ups during the 15 minutes preceding each race, if no racers remain on course.

Call-ups: You MUST pre-register if you want a call-up. All pre-registered riders with points will be staged on the grid, by bib number, in position corresponding with staging rules for their respective categories (See Super Series rules for staging guidelines by category at http://www.super8cx.org/rulebook/). Remaining riders will be staged by bib number, in the order of registration. All categories will reserve four spots in the third row, which are to be used for promoters' discretionary call-ups.

Barrier Primes: Prizes will be awarded to the first racer in each field to clear the barriers cleanly on the first lap. For combined fields or fields that start simultaneously, one winner will be determined for that group. Winners MUST report immediately to the finish/podium area to claim their prizes. This will take place immediately after you finish. Failure to do so will result in a forfeit of your prize. Primes will be judged by race staff, not USA Cycling officials.

Series Points: Points are awarded for BikeReg Super Series rankings for some categories. See the Super Series website www.super8cx.org for full details about rules and regulations for series points.

Podium Finishers: The top finishers in every event MUST report immediately to the finish/podium area for awards and interviews. This will take place immediately after you finish and only last a few minutes. Failure to do so will result in a forfeit of your prizes.

BikeReg Super Series Top Finishers: Capital ‘Cross Classic is the series final for the BikeReg Super Series. Cash prizes will be awarded at the event to Series winners in the following categories: Masters 60+ Cat 1-5; Masters 50+ 1-4; Singlespeed Cat 1-5; Men Cat 1/2/3; Women Cat 1/2/3; Masters 40+ 1/2/3.
