Women's Winter Steady Road Ride

Come brave the Winter with me (kelly)! While the weekly Women’s Steady Wednesday rides are on pause for the season, I thought it would be nice to have a Steady Ride a few times this Winter. The plan is to hit the road for a few hours and enjoy each other’s company while riding bikes! Maybe we can even stop at a coffee shop during or after the ride! :)

Ride Date: January 20, 2019

Bad Weather Date: January 27, 2019

Ride start time: 9:30am

Location: Rocktown Bicycles

Length: 2 to 3 hours (dependent on temperature)

Distance: 25 to 50 miles (dependent on temperature)

Required to Bring:

  • A working taillight

  • Headlight

  • Flat repair kit

  • Proper clothing for the winter weather.

    • Layers are super helpful. If you are unsure of how to layer, check out this blog I wrote: COLD WEATHER GEAR

Ride pace - Steady; quicker than a social ride, we will be sitting somewhere in the 13-16mph range. This is not a "crush everyone" ride. I want to emphasize that. We are not out here to intimidate or "race". This ride is meant to bring women together to have fun, and encourage and challenge each other in a friendly environment.

Some notes on group riding:

  • We don't cross over the yellow line

  • On busier roads, we will ride single file, the widest we will ride is 2 riders next to each other, still riding more on the right side of the lane

  • If a car is coming up from behind the group, please call out "car back" for the group, we will go single file if necessary

  • On rural/narrow roads, we don't ride across the whole road

  • On rural/narrow roads, please call out "car up" if a car is coming the opposite direction
