2017 Tacchino Cyclocross -- Event #5 of the BikeReg Super Series

The Venue

New Venue!  Salamander Resort at 500 N Pendleton St. in Middleburg, VA.

Salamander Resort will be catering food and beverages. 

The course is open for warm-ups after the last active racer passes the start finish line on the final lap.  Warm-up riders are not allowed to pass an active racer, should only enter the course BEHIND the last active racer, and should not pass through the start/finish area.  Riding on the course during an event at any other time is prohibited and will result in disqualification.

Parking: parking will be adjacent to the course. Look for signs at the entrance to the Resort

Course Description:  The course is going to be classic Northern Virginia.  There are rolling hills, numerous off-cambers, gravel paths, a pavement start, and at least two sets of obstacles.  There will be one double-sided pit on the course and a bike wash if weather requires it.

The Event:  The race is part of the BikeReg Super 8 Series.  The event will be held under USAC permit # pending.  Consult the tables below to confirm your race class and category according to your USAC license.  All USAC Cyclocross rules apply. Event will be held rain or shine.  Prizes will be awarded as soon as possible after each event.  Please remain near the podiums following your race if you place.  The protest period start will be announced.  Racing age for all categories is based upon the rider’s age on Dec. 31st, 2018.

* The 125 rider limit is for the combined field in a race.  Registration will close once the limit has been reached by any combination of classes within the field. 

* Classes designated “Masters” are open to Men and Women. Minimum Racing Age and categories quoted are for Men; minimum Racing Age and categories for Women will differ.

** Promoter reserves the right to increase total prize purse as race day gets closer.

Registration: USAC license required. BikeReg charges a fee for each registration.  One day licenses will be available for Cat 4 women or Cat 5 men events the day of registration.  One-day licenses can be purchased for $10 on race day; please note "one day" under license area when you register online if you will need one.  Please bring your license (or a receipt from USA Cycling) if you plan on racing in a higher category race.

Registration fee for all races will be $32 ($15 for Junior U19 and $15 for Juniors 9-14, Lil’ Belgians are free) There will be a $10.00 “late registration” fee ($5 late fee for juniors) for day-of-registration.  Save money, pre-register! No late fee for a second (or third) race on the day. Race a second race for $20!!!!!   Racing age for all categories is based upon the rider’s age on Dec. 31st, 2018.

Onsite registration opens at 7:15 AM and closes 30 minutes before each race.  Any current National CycloCross Champions shall be granted a free entry but must wear their national jersey for the category in which it was won.

Call Ups:  Staging order will based on the most recent CrossResults score or Super Series series standings, using the following criteria:

For  the 8:15 Cat 5 Men & Cat 4/5 Women Races:   

  1. All pre-registered riders will be staged by bib number, in the order of registration.

For All Other Fields

  1. All pre-registered riders will be staged on the grid, by bib number. 
  2. Bib numbers will be assigned as follows: The first 4 top ranked riders in Super Series then according to ranking on CrossResults.com as of the close of registration.
  3. Remaining riders will be staged by bib number, in the order of registration.
  4. All categories will reserve four spots in the third row, which are to be used for promoters’ discretion call-ups.

Staging: Riders shall be staged by the rider's assigned bib number.  Racers registering the day of the race will be assigned remaining bib numbers on a first come, first served basis at the end of the group.  All riders will line up in the order of their numbers, filling gaps as allowed by the officials/callers.  Staging will fill the start grid as specified in the USAC rulebook start grid. 

ALL RIDERS MUST ASSEMBLE IN THE PRE STAGING CHUTE 10 MINUTES BEFORE THE START AND WILL BE CALLED 8 AT A TIME ONTO THE STARTING GRID!   If you are not present when your number is called, you will be staged by the Officials in the row being staged at the time (i.e. at the back of the group as staged)

Medical/First Aid:  There will be EMT available.  First aid will be available at the registration shelter.
