Course Description

Both event days will include a paved start/finish.  In the spirit of cyclocross, expect numerous steep hills, off camber sections, grass, gravel, sand and even mud.  Each day will have it’s own unique features with the most popular (Belgian Wall) included in both days.  There’s also the possibility of a second “Belgian Wall”.  A large, double sided pit will be located near the center point of the lap.

The Venue

Winchester AppleCross is held at Jim Barnett Park in Winchester, VA.  NO alcohol permitted in the park.  The park opens at dawn and closes at dusk.  There will be multiple porta-potties located at the central portion of the event as well as registration and staging.  Indoor bathroom and shower facilities will be available in the War Memorial building, which is located just West of the main parking area.  Please enter through the double glass doors.  DO NOT use the entrance under the covered drive as this portion may be used for religious services on Sunday.  And please, “Leave NO Trace”.

Greenwood Grocery and Deli will be on hand serving a variety of items and Roma’s Wood Fired Oven Pizza will be baking fresh pizza in a mobile wood fired oven.   In addition to those items we plan to serve hot apple cider beside the roaring fireplace.  There is a children’s playground located near the race village.

Additional offerings may be added as the event weekend approaches.

Special rates on local hotels will be available and announced at a later date.
