2018 Specialized Chisel
With the DSW M5 Alloy Frame, the Chisel is an aluminum mountain bike in a class of its own.
Traditional welding methods create frame joints by connecting tubes to cylinders, leaving the performance & security of the connection up to the skill of the welder. DSW, however, takes the joint and gives it back to the engineers. This means Specialized is able to move the joint away from the area of the highest stress, making the finished frame's balance of strength, rigidity, and weight more pronounced than any alloy frame in history.
There are 2 levels of the Chisel Mountain Bike - Comp & Expert, in both Men's and Women's versions. The geometry is the same between both genders, what changes are the touch points. So, handlebars and saddle are the 2 main pieces that are different, as well as color options. What is placed stock on these bikes is based of of years of fit research done by Specialized with Retul and Univeristy of Colorado Boulder. If you happen to like one color over the other, what is nice is the geometry and gear are the same, touch points can be changed!

2018 Crux Sport
Even as barriers are torn down, and the dirt is scrubbed from our weary, spent faces, we smile. As our frozen fingers come back to life, and the mud is hosed from both cranks and derailleurs, we laugh. Through the pain and the mud, the cold and the blood, World Champions and weekend warriors alike are united in this same thought—I love cyclocross.
Cross is boss!
The bike pictured is Connor's build edition of the 2018 Crux Sport. He has changed it by putting 1x Ultegra Di2, Carbon Control SL wheels, and Lizard Skin bar tape on it. 2018 Stumpjumper Expert Carbon 29/6Fattie
If you know the history of the Stumpjumper FSR, you know that it doesn't believe in compromising. And not surprisingly, this still rings true today with the Stumpjumper Expert 29/6Fattie.
The Stumpjumper Expert Carbon 29/6Fattie features the Specialized FACT 9m carbon fiber for the bulk of the construction in order to provide an ultra-lightweight, strong, and stiff frame. The carbon molding process also allowed Specialized to revolutionize how you carry your trail essentials with the all-new SWAT™ Door found at the down tube. This compartment will fit a tube, a tool, and pump without rattling or compromising the structural integrity of the frame.
You'll also find an aggressive, trail-eating geometry to complement the 29-inch wheels that features ridiculously short chainstays, a roomy top tube, a low bottom bracket, and a slacked out front end. And to make things even better, the Stumpy's design also allows you the opportunity to toggle between 29-inch wheels and 6Fattie wheels (not included), allowing the ultimate in configuration options for the trail at hand.
For the build, they spec'd some of SRAM's best performing and durable 12-speed components, a FOX 34 Performance fork with 150mm of travel, and hand-built Roval Traverse 29 carbon wheels. It's a bike that will have you never looking back—unless it's to see your buddies eating your dust.
2018 Diverge Sport
With the Diverge Sport, you'll be prepared for anything, from smooth tarmac to the loosest, roughest tracks out there. It's packed with all the same technologies as its pricier cousins, only its spec places an emphasis on reliable performance, not components so flashy you'll be eating nothing but top ramen for months.
When the road less traveled is still too crowded, there's the Diverge. It's purpose-built for long, all-day rides over rough roads, and to make sure of it, we designed it with an endurance-focused geometry, Future Shock suspension, and clearance for up to 42mm tires. With the Diverge, your rides are only limited by your imagination.

2018 Enduro Comp 29/6Fattie
Whether you're riding in the backcountry or racing enduro, you need a bike that's capable and efficient. We give you, the Enduro.
One of our newest demo bikes to the shop, the 2018 Enduro Comp 29/6Fattie will keep you hungry for more and more trail. This bike is a machine. It is fun, and fast, and grippy, and can I say, "FUN," again? :)
I took this bike out for one of the Shenandoah Valley Bicycle Coalition Friday 6 Pack group rides, and I think the word I used to describe riding it to my friends was, "ridiculous." It is just absolutely ridiculous how much fun riding this bike down Road Hollow was - how in control I felt even when hitting the descents faster than I ever had before, and how quick it was to respond when I needed to pedal as fast as possible.
If you get the chance, you should ride it! (Check out our demo bikes HERE!)
The 2018 Enduro comes with a few changes from the 2017 model after Specialized heard feedback from riders. The 2018 model now has a slacker front end, a longer top tube, shorter chain stays, and the bottom bracket has been lowered a bit. A new feature that I think is pretty cool is the ability to toggle from a "high" BB height at 354mm to a "low" BB height at 346mm. All of this together makes the bike truly feel glued to the ground, and the platform is more responsive and capable then ever.
On the way to drop in Road Hollow Trail :)

Chris' 2018 Epic Hardtail Comp Build
Check out Chris' build of his new mountain bike!
This isn't just the lightest mountain bike frame Specialized has ever made; it's their lightest, stiffest, best-handling frame—period. The Epic Hardtail was redesigned from the ground-up to give you an unparalleled performance advantage on the XC track. It flies up hills with ease, descends with unmatched confidence, and wastes nary a watt. Consider it a cross country revolution, and remember, this is Epic.
Chris has spec'd this bike to be ready for all of his favorite adventures and style of riding.
The frame is made from Specialized FACT 11 carbon fiber with Rider-First Engineered™ Technology. Now, the frame design applies specificity to every tube size and carbon layup for every frame size. This creates the optimal balance of rigidity, weight, and responsiveness, so every frame, regardless of size, performs just intended. The Rider First technology is especially helpful to Christopher as he is a very tall rider, which can sometimes mean frames will be more flexy and less responsive feeling. This is not the case at all with the Rider First frames. The bike feels tailor-made for you. It's quite an amazing experience when you first get on one.
Chris' Parts Spec:
- Wheels: Roval Control SL, inner width: 22mm, tubeless
- Fork: RockShox Sid World Cup
- Crank: SRAM XX1 Eagle
- Derailleur: SRAM X0 Eagle
- Cassette: SRAM Eagle X01 10-50t
- Chain: SRAM Eagle XX1
- Brakes: Avid X0 hydraulic
- Grips: Specialized Locking Grip
- Tires: Maxxis Icon EXO 2.2
2018 Tarmac Comp
Kelly is excited to introduce you to her new road bike for the year! The Tarmac's advanced materials and aerodynamic design add a modern edge to the lively character of a classic race bike, while its Rider-First Engineered™ design ensures that the Tarmac sprints, corners, and descends with uniform excellence across every size.
The Tarmac Comp stands on its own two wheels as a bike that's born to perform and able to take your riding to the next level.
Kelly is super stoked on riding this bike. Here are a few reasons why:
- Frame - This frame is Rider First Engineered, which means "for every frame size, each tube size and carbon layup is selected with collected fit and rider data in mind. This gives optimal balance of rigidity, weight, and responsiveness across every single size."
- This bike gets up and goes, and it's because of this technology. It really is "the worlds best ride."
- FACT SL5 10r Carbon Frame Layup - The design and layup of carbon materials perfectly combines lightweight performance, responsiveness, and compliance.
- (Also, this bike, combined with the new Ultegra 8000, can fit up to 28c tires!)
- Wheels - The Roval SLX 24 rims are new for this year, and with sealed cartridge hubs and lightweight DT Swiss spokes, the wheel set is light and responsive.
- Ultegra 8000 Drivetrain and Brakes - New for this year, the Ultegra 8000 components seem to be more aero and better built up for high mileage and high performance.
- Tires - Specialized Turbo S-works. So grippy, so smooth, so fast!
Kelly's first ride impression: "Dang, this bike is awesome! The ride is so good."
2018 Ruby
With a mix of comfort, performance, and value, the Ruby is the perfect steed for exploring roads of all conditions.
The Ruby's frame is among the lightest that Specialized has ever made, and it's been constructed from their superlative FACT 9r carbon fiber. Its stiffness levels are also excellent, and compared to the SL4 iteration of yesteryear, you'll experience a whole new, faster, and more efficient geometry. Through some engineering sorcery, however, Specialized has managed to keep the same fit, feel, and position that we've all come to love from the SL4's Women's Endurance Geometry. Of course, you're probably thinking, "get on to the suspension thing up front."
It's call it Future Shock, and essentially, it's a piston in the head tube with 20mm of travel. The technology has been developed in partnership with McLaren Applied Technologies, and the result of this are a host of drastic performance improvements, namely in the vertical compliance department. Without giving a physics lecture, they found that focusing on vertical compliance, instead of fork splay, meant that smoothness, speed, and comfort could be improved in one fell swoop. And of all the bikes that Specialized has tested with their Rolling Efficiency Model, the new Ruby outperforms anything on the market.
Topping off the lightweight frame and Future Shock technology is a predominantly Shimano component spec, hassle-free Tektro Spyre mechanical disc brakes, and women's-specific touch points that are sure to keep you rolling, worry-free, for many miles to come.
- Featuring Rider-First Engineered™ design that ensures every frame size has the same legendary responsiveness and smooth ride quality that you'd expect from a Ruby. The FACT 9r frameset is exceptional in every way, offering the ideal blend of light overall weight and targeted stiffness. Meanwhile, the all-new Future Shock "suspension" system at the cockpit delivers a revolutionary degree of comfort and control.
- The Ruby Disc fork is built from our extraordinary FACT carbon fiber for supreme stiffness, strength, and reactivity, while a thru-axle design only stands to bolster all of the above.
- Comes equipped with a 25lbs spring installed (color: black, weight: medium), and also includes both 13lbs (color: blue, weight: soft) and 40lbs (color: yellow, weight: firm) springs that can be installed to match the terrain you're riding.
Turbo Vado
Turbo VADO - You, only faster.
A global demand of a Specialized E-bike began about 10 years ago. Specialized was hesitant to join the E-bike world at first because, if they were going to create this style of bicycle, they wanted to do it right; it had to be an E-bike for cyclists.
In the whole line up of Specialized bicycles, their E-bike is the one that has been scrutinized more than any other bike. It had to be a bike, first and foremost, and provide an absolutely amazing ride experience.
The Turbo S was their first version. And while it was fast and a lot of fun, they realized it was a tank of a bicycle, and could do with some great improvements. Thus, the Turbo Family was born.
Turbo is now the name for all of Specialized E-bikes, and within this exist their Levo (MTB), and Vado (road).
In the re-design of the Turbo, Specialized came up with this philosophy:
- Handling - All of the Turbos need to handle like a bicycle, and ride amazingly well. It should not feel like you're riding an E-bike, more like you're riding a bike with a constant tailwind pushing you forward
- Integration - the technology of the Turbos needs to be integrated seamlessly. The motor, battery, and display need to be integrated beautifully into the bike (it needs to look like a complete bicycle, not a bike with motor attached)
- Range - Go as far as possible! The Turbo uses the highest technology available to make this bike go as far as possible for its riders!
- The Vado is able to be personally adjusted to the distance of desired ride and how much assisted power output the rider wants.
When comparing the Turbo Vado to its predecessor, the Turbo S, it is clear that this is now where the top tier of E-bikes exist. The Vado offers a very stable and comfortable ride; it is lighter than the Turbo S, even the versions with a suspension fork; and it has been paired with a very smooth running motor. It's quiet. You don't feel vibration; all adding to the amazing experience had when riding this bike.
Also different from the Turbo S, is the placement of the battery. Where in the Turbo S, the motor/battery pack sat on the hub in the rear wheel (making it SUPER heavy and difficult to change flats), on the Vado the battery is integrated into the bicycle frame. It is lighter, and easy to remove to charge (and pulling the wheels off of it is like any other bicycle).
The Vado battery has 40 cells and is Future Built, meaning there is space within it for future cells, so should an upgrade occur, it can easily be done. An Albus Lock with a Code Key Card keeps the battery safe and secure in the bike. The battery has very high water protection, so should you find yourself riding or transporting the bike in the rain, there is no worry about water causing battery damage.
We have already seen this bike do amazing things for cyclists! It's a wonderful commuter, and you don't show up to work or class all sweaty. It lets everyone ride together that might otherwise be left behind or left out of a ride. It has made cyclists out of individuals that maybe wouldn't have even started riding had this bike not existed. It has added to our cycling community, and that is awesome.
The Turbo Vado will put a smile on anyone's face that rides it. Guaranteed. It's you riding, only faster. :)
